Community Involvement
CITIZENS OF THE COMMUNITY
Stief, Gross, Sagoskin, Gilman & Classetti has a long history of substantial community involvement in charitable endeavors as well as in voluntary activities such as coaching community sports teams, serving on voluntary civic committees in their communities, and serving religious institutions on a voluntary basis. SGSGC believes that lawyers have a special obligation to serve the public interest, and has long encouraged all of its members to do so.
Barry L. Gross
Community Service
For nearly 20 years, Mr. Gross was involved in coaching Northampton youth football. During most of those years, Mr. Gross served as President and Director of the program, during which time he also coached Little League Baseball, girls' softball and girls' basketball in the Northampton community. For more than 15 years, Mr. Gross served as a Director on the Northampton Athletic Association, the umbrella authority for all youth activities and, for 14 of those years, he served as Vice President of the organization.
Mr. Gross was a Co-Chair and major contributor to the "Light the Rock Fund," to light the Council Rock athletic field, so that all forms of student athletic events and community events can now be held at night. Similarly, Mr. Gross is serving on the Board of "Turf the Rocks," which will result in artificial turf being installed on Council Rock High School athletic fields to reduce injuries and permit events to take place even during inclement weather. The "Turf the Rocks" golf tournament was held under the direction of Mr. Gross.
Mr. Gross has been active in the Bucks County Heroes Scholarship Fund, a charitable organization which provides educational assistance to the children of police, fire and EMS personnel who died in the line of duty. For many years, the "Heroes' Kids" golf tournament was held under the direction of Mr. Gross, raising in excess of $100,000 for the Fund.
During his career, Mr. Gross has donated his time to provide free legal services to dozens of needy individuals.
Arthur R. Sagoskin
Community Service
Mr. Sagoskin believes it is important to be active in a wide variety of community needs, apart from his law practice. Accordingly, he serves as solicitor for the Bucks County Heroes Scholarship Fund and was one of its founders. The Fund is to benefit members and relatives of police, fire, and volunteer services who are killed or disabled in the line of duty.
He is involved in religious activities in his community and the surrounding area. In this regard, he has served as President of his synagogue for the past 10 years. The synagogue is involved in numerous charitable work. Mr. Sagoskin leads in these worthwhile endeavors.
He also serves on the Board of Directors of a private non-profit school. The non-profit school is also involved in community charity work.
Mr. Sagoskin is a sought-after speaker for religious and charitable events. He frequently is asked to act as host at dinners for religious and charitable causes. He does this because he believes that being a good lawyer and a good human being are one and the same.
Gary B. Gilman
Community Service
Mr. Gilman and his family have always been active in our Bucks County community. He served on the Board of Directors of the Bucks County Network of Victim Assistance (NOVA) from 1997 to 2003. NOVA is a nonprofit organization which provides a multitude of counseling and other services to victims of crime, and which provides educational programs to seniors, children, and other at-risk individuals.
Mr. Gilman has coached youth sports for the past 11 years, and he has been involved in a broad variety of social action and charitable activities. Mr. Gilman currently serves his township as the volunteer chairperson of its Citizens Traffic Commission, responsible for promoting safe roads, safe driving, and reducing traffic congestion.
Mr. Gilman, along with his law firm partners, has long been an active supporter of the Bucks County Heroes Scholarship Fund, a charitable organization which provides educational assistance to the children of police, fire, and EMS personnel killed in the line of duty. He and his law firm also supported the Kelly Anne Dolan Memorial Fund, which provides support and assistance to families caring for chronically ill, seriously ill or disabled children. Like all the partners and associates in his law firm, Mr. Gilman donates his time to provide free legal services to needy individuals.
